Examining the Lift Recliner and its Uses

As a senior, there are often a number of tasks that can become much harder. In many cases, this will not be the result of a single disorder, but rather a combination of diseases. For instance, it is not uncommon for a senior to suffer from both poor vision and arthritis, which together can make many daily tasks very difficult.
While there are many tasks that can be difficult for the elderly, often standing up and sitting down becomes the most problematic, which is why many people use lift chairs.
Lift chairs are today very popular and were first invented during the 1980′s. It is not uncommon to hear them referred to as lift recliners or lifting recliners, as most liftchairs look very similar to a recliner and offer many of the same features. For example, most lift recliners offer a backrest that can be reclined and an extendable footrest. Some lift recliners also offer built in heat systems, which for some people helps reduce arthritis pain, as well as a built in massager.
While the lift recliner is in some regards very similar to a regular lazy-boy recliner, the lift recliner also offers a way to make it easier to stand and sit. This is achieved through the use of a powerful lifting component that is located under the seat of the chair. The lifting component, when activated, causes the frame of the lift recliner to rise upwards, allowing the user to exit the chair in an upright standing position. Aside from making it much easier to stand up or sit down, the backrest and footrest of a lift recliner is controlled with an electric motor, making the chair very easy to use.
There are quite a few different lift recliner models available, but they are typically classified by the degree at which the backrest reclines. Specifically, lift recliners are classified as either infinite position, three position, or two position chairs.
An infinite position lift recliner reclines to a fully horizontal position and allows the user to operate the footrest of the chair separately from the backrest. Since the footrest and the backrest are allowed to operate separately, it is much easier to find a sitting position that is very comfortable and ergonomically correct.
Three position lift recliners can recline almost as far an infinite position chair, however the footrest and backrest do not operate independently. Two position lift recline much less than three position chairs to approximately 45 degrees. Two position lift recliners also do not allow the footrest and backrest to be moved separately. Sometimes, these types of lift recliners are referred to as having TV Recline, because they are well suited to watching television.
Lift recliners remain incredibly popular tools and make the lives of seniors all over the country much easier. They have been used for a number of years and since all of a lift recliners components are electronically operated, they can be used by people with limited physical abilities.
